Additional Tariff Announced on Imports from China

Dear Valued Customer,
On August 1, 2019, President Trump announced that an additional tariff of 10% will be imposed on an additional $300B of imported goods from China, referred to throughout the various tariff discussions as “List 4”. The 10% tariff will commence on September 1, 2019. The proposed list includes virtually all remaining items imported from China that were not covered in the previously imposed tariffs under Section 301. A Federal Register notice has not been issued yet but is expected to be released clarifying the details of the requirements prior to the September 1st start date.
As these Section 301 lists have been introduced, entities have been able to provide feedback, public commentary, and, when able to support sound reasoning for the need to procure a specific good from China, request exclusions from these tariffs. The United States Trade Representative held a public hearing in June on the List 4 proposal, but has not announced any changes to the products listed, nor if there will be an additional exclusion process for List 4.
This is a fluid situation and we will continue to monitor and keep you informed of any developments. As with previous notifications, we continue to mitigate any risks of tariff and increases in costs by shifting our supply chain globally; however, given the magnitude of List 4, and the global capacity of supply, there will be an impact to certain product groups.
